The deans of each of UNG's five colleges - the College of Arts & Letters, the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences & Professions, the Mike Cottrell College of Business, and the College of Science & Mathematics - announced the names of 62 students who made their respective lists for summer 2016. Dean's List recognition is achieved by having a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B.

The university's summer commencement ceremonies were held Aug. 2 for some 400 participants for summer semester. UNG conferred more than 450 degrees and certificates for the semester.

Dr. Bonita C. Jacobs, president of UNG, recognized 80 students who earned a 4.0 during the summer 2016 semester. Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in bachelor's degree programs who achieved a 4.0 grade point average were named to the President's Honor Roll. Students enrolled in associate degree programs who met the same level of achievement were named to the President's List.

A number of UNG students have earned nationally prestigious scholarships valued at thousands of dollars and opportunities to study abroad or participate in exclusive internships.

In ceremonies held May 6-7 at the University of North Georgia, 49 graduating cadets were awarded commissions as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserves or Georgia National Guard.

Two students were awarded the first-ever poultry science scholarships this spring at the University of North Georgia, supported by donations from local poultry industries.
