With more than 18,000 students, the University of North Georgia is the state’s sixth-largest public university. Graduate of the University of North Georgia

This semester, UNG conferred a total of 1,445 degrees, including 603 associate, 718 bachelor's degrees, and 124 graduate degrees. UNG also awarded 10 one-year certificates for work in specialty areas. Additionally, 33 graduating members of the Corps of Cadets took oaths as second lieutenants in the National Guard or U.S. Army; commissioning ceremonies also were held separately on May 9. The university's spring commencement ceremonies were held May 9-10 on UNG's Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses.

Two University of North Georgia (UNG) students, both cadets majoring in Arabic, have been awarded David L. Boren Scholarships to study in the Middle East during the 2014-15 academic year. Sponsored by the National Security Education Program (NSEP), the Boren program provides American undergraduate students up to $20,000 for an academic year's study abroad.
