Two UNG students have intertwining internships creating a catalog of information of each piece within the UNG art collection. Students Sara Courtney and Ruth Phillips are researching the University of North Georgia (UNG) art collection as part of individual internships. The pair didn't know one another prior to the research and, ironically, have only once been in the presence of the other while working. Phillips is the photographer, capturing images of each piece for cataloging purposes. Meanwhile, Courtney is researching the pieces.

Olivia Tinsley transferred to the University of North Georgia (UNG). Her major changed a few times, but she remained steadfast with her art history minor. "I loved my art history minor so much, and it completely changed my career plans. UNG doesn't offer an art history major, so I chose digital marketing because I knew it would be applicable to anything and I do enjoy it," Tinsley said.

A pair of University of North Georgia (UNG) seniors took part in the Meridian-Cox Foreign Service Fellowship for Emerging Leaders this summer. Ryan Gentry and Claudia Marban were among the 20 students selected for the fully-funded enrichment and training program designed to increase awareness of Foreign Service careers among students nationwide.

The University of North Georgia (UNG) provided 10 students with innovative experience this summer through a three-week "AI in manufacturing" Maymester course followed by eight-week internships at companies in surrounding counties.

University of North Georgia (UNG) students Rediate Degu and Nadine Effiom recently participated in the six-week Northeast Georgia Medical Center Graduate Medical Education Summer Research Internship. Interns had the opportunity to take part in meaningful research or quality improvement, development of a research project and clinical observations.

Sophomore Mauricio Gonzalez became the first UNG student to be selected for the eight-week Douglas-O'Connell Internship in Ireland.

University of North Georgia (UNG) film students Andrew Byrd, Mark Harris and Jacob Monahan all participated in a study abroad in summer 2023 in Italy where they created a short film together as they all pursue degrees in film with a production concentration. When they returned stateside, they were offered an internship with Syfan Logistics in Gainesville, Georgia.

Dustin Ward, a St. Louis, Missouri, native and University of North Georgia (UNG) senior, will be heading to London next spring for an internship with Deloitte accounting firm. Ward, who is pursuing a degree in accounting, also earned a scholarship from the Georgia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation.

Four University of North Georgia (UNG) students are participating in the first East Asian studies internship program at two metro Atlanta schools this fall. The students are serving as interns in the schools as teaching assistants, applying their knowledge of Japanese or Korean language and culture, said Dr. Sung Shin Kim, director of East Asian studies and professor of history.

Four third-year students in the University of North Georgia's (UNG) Master of Science in Counseling program are gaining valuable field experience on campus as interns in the UNG Community Counseling Clinic.

UNG alumni Elizabeth Dobbs, 2nd Lt. Phillip Ly and Sonrisa Reed and student Emma Vail took part in an internship this summer with the University of Maryland's Research for Intelligence and Security Challenges Initiative.

University of North Georgia (UNG) graduate Bradley Booth gained valuable experience this spring through the Fund for American Studies' (TFAS) Capital Semester on International Affairs + Public Policy. The cadet, who earned a degree in international affairs with a European concentration in August, was one of 14 students from across the U.S. to take part in the program.

Five University of North Georgia students pursuing degrees in the College of Science and Mathematics won highly competitive research internships to work at renowned programs and facilities for the upcoming summer. The students included three physics majors, one biology major, and one chemistry major.

Two UNG students were selected for the highly competitive Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP). The program is only open to juniors and seniors, who are selected from schools throughout the University System of Georgia.

A recent University of North Georgia (UNG) alumnus and a cadet spent the fall as interns at the White House. Mitchell Fariss, a 2017 graduate who majored in international affairs, interned in the Office of Public Liaison. Evan Setter, a sophomore from Woodstock, Georgia, majoring in political science, was an intern in Vice President Mike Pence's office.

Three recent University of North Georgia (UNG) graduates were awarded internships with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to study at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in Richland, Washington. As part of the DOE, a cabinet-level department of the national government that oversees policies regarding energy and safety on nuclear material, the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) provides research experience at DOE laboratories to college students on current programs or ones chosen by the intern.
