The University of North Georgia is a University System of Georgia leadership institution and is The Military College of Georgia. With more than 18,000 students, the University of North Georgia is the state’s sixth-largest public university. Students attend LEAD Conference at Harvard

Thirteen students from the University of North Georgia (UNG) took part in the Harvard Undergraduate Latina Empowerment & Development (LEAD) Conference, which was held Feb. 7-8 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Fatima Santillan, a senior from Gainesville, Georgia, pursuing a degree in political science with a minor in public administration and public service, attended the LEAD Conference for a second time and served as an ambassador this year.

The University of North Georgia's ninth annual Women's Leadership Recognition Luncheon honored 10 student leaders and three alumnae March 2 at the UNG Dining Hall Banquet Room at the Dahlonega Campus.

Gainesville resident Anderson will study presidency, Congress

University of North Georgia (UNG) President Bonita Jacobs has selected Anna Caitlyn "AC" Anderson as the 2021-22 UNG Presidential Fellow for the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC). Founded in 1965 as a nonprofit, CSPC's mission is to "provide historical perspective about our nation's highest offices for citizens and policymakers," according to its website.

Outstanding female student leaders recognized by Women of UNG

"Driven," holistic," "model," "servant," "action oriented," "champion of diversity," "dedicated," and "outstanding" are some of the words University of North Georgia (UNG) faculty and staff used to describe their nominees for the Female Student Leadership Award. The Women of UNG, a shared-interest group of the university's alumni association, selected 10 female student leaders out of 55 nominations for the recognition this year.

Communication major named Newman Civic Fellow

University of North Georgia junior Justin Bray, who is pursuing a degree in communication with a concentration in public relations, was selected by Campus Compact as UNG's Newman Civic Fellow. He is one of 212 students from 39 states, Washington, D.C., and Mexico in the 2021-22 academic cohort.
