Cadets go to military academy exchanges in Lithuania, Taiwan, Romania and South Korea

UNG has added a new program to its military academy exchange program, and two UNG cadets are taking advantage of the opportunity. From Feb. 27 to June 26, the pair of cadets are fully immersed in Lithuanian culture while studying at the General Jonas Zemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania. Other cadets studied abroad in Taiwan, Romania and South Korea in spring 2023.

The deans of each of UNG's colleges announced the names of those students who made their respective lists for spring 2023. Dean's List recognition is achieved by having at least a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B.

University of North Georgia announces President's Lists for spring 2023

University of North Georgia (UNG) President Bonita C. Jacobs recognized students who achieved a 4.0 GPA during the Spring 2023 semester. Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in bachelor's degree programs who achieved a 4.0 grade point average were named to the President's Honor Roll. Students enrolled in associate degree or dual enrollment programs who met the same level of achievement were named to the President's List.

Eight selected as Fulbrights for 2023-24

Eight University of North Georgia (UNG) students and alumni have been named 2023-24 Fulbright scholars. This brings the total of UNG Fulbright scholars to 46 since the 2015-16 academic year. Ashley Fish, Karen Garcia, Madeline Grasso, former cadet Anna Kubas, 2nd Lt. Phillip Ly, Norma Martinez, and Grace Maurer have been selected as finalists. One student declined the opportunity. Emelia Thompson is an alternate.

University of North Georgia (UNG) students Atticus Tomcho and Mary Dickens teamed up with their adviser, Dr. David Patterson, to win the best poster award in the Earth Sciences section at the 100th annual Georgia Academy of Sciences Conference. Tomcho and Dickens are each pursuing a degree in biology.
