Around 190 students transitioned from being civilians to cadets at Freshman Orientation Group (FROG) Week at the University of North Georgia (UNG), which ran Aug. 11-17. From rifle range training to an academics introduction, incoming cadets were presented with a great deal of information about UNG and how the Corps of Cadets fits within the university. They also completed grueling leadership exercises at Pine Valley, rappelled at the Army Rangers' Camp Frank D. Merrill and capped off the week with the Crown Mountain Run the morning of the traditional FROG Week graduation.

Cadets are ranked on the national Order of Merit List (OML) by achieving superior grade-point averages, strong performance in the Army physical fitness test, and proving their worth as exceptional leaders in their college ROTC training.

Freshman Recruit Orientation Group (FROG) Week, which ran Aug. 12-18, marked the transition of more than 200 incoming freshmen in the Corps of Cadets from civilians to cadets at UNG, one of six senior military colleges in the nation. The University of North Georgia's Ranger Challenge Black team advances to Sandhurst after winning the Spartan Ranger Challenge hosted by U.S. Army Cadet Command on Oct. 26-29 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. UNG bested 18 teams with 198 total Cadets from the nation's junior and senior military colleges. UNG's Ranger Challenge Gold team also competed at Fort Knox.

The University of North Georgia (UNG) announces the high school seniors who have been awarded the 2017 UNG Military Scholarship. Each year, the state of Georgia offers 42 scholarships worth $70,000 over four years to Georgia high school seniors who attend UNG and plan to commission as officers in the Georgia Army National Guard after graduating with bachelor's degrees. The scholarship pays for room, meals, tuition, books, uniforms, and fees. In addition, recipients get National Guard weekend drill pay, GI Bill, pay for attending Army basic and advanced training, and, for those cadets offered a contract to commission as a lieutenant, Army ROTC contract pay at the beginning of sophomore or junior year.

Victoria Wilder is spending her final semester as a cadet at the University of North Georgia (UNG) preparing to commission as a second lieutenant into the U.S. Army Infantry branch - the first female cadet from UNG to become an Infantry officer.

Chosen by their student leadership, these cadets displayed exemplary character and ability all throughout FROG (Freshman Orientation Group) week training in January 2016. As such, they'll carry their cadet company colors for the entirety of the semester.
