2016 May 23

Victoria Alexandra Buker of Newnan, GA, has graduated from the University of North Georgia (UNG) with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science/Pre-Law.

The university's spring commencement ceremonies were held May 6-8 for some 1,200 participants; in total, UNG conferred more than 1,500 degrees and certificates for spring semester.

"We are here to honor you with the richest tradition in the academic community - a commencement ceremony," UNG President Bonita Jacobs said before conferring degrees. "We all know what it took for you to reach this moment. We know that, as graduates of UNG, you will add meaning and value to the lives of those around you. Our hopes and dreams are with you. Congratulations on this important milestone."

Separate commissioning ceremonies were held May 6-7 for members of the Corps of Cadets entering the armed forces as second lieutenants. Individual commissioning ceremonies recognized their service and leadership, and formally marked their entry into the U.S. Armed Forces.
