2015 May 27

Chelsea Craig, a senior majoring in psychology , from Marietta, Georgia, was recognized at the Southern Regional Orientation Workshop (SROW) at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. Craig and Elle Cornett participated in the Undergraduate Case Study competition, in which participants are presented with an issue and have 24 hours to develop a plan for how they would successfully resolve the issue. The pair won the award for "Best Communication" for their case study group. .

Craig was one of 43 orientation leaders from three University of North Georgia (UNG) campuses who attended the workshop, which allows orientation leaders from a variety of small and large schools across the Southeast to learn more about orientation programming and training. Orientation leaders attended educational sessions and network with leaders and professional staff from other institutions.

"SROW provides a great opportunity for our leaders to learn more about orientation best practices by attending educational sessions and networking with student leaders from other institutions," said Darcy Hayes, director of UNG's First Year Experience program. "Our leaders are able to take what they learn and apply it when they return to UNG. This benefits the institution and our new student population."
