helps UNG Debate Team to multiple awards at Blazer Classic

Efren Chavez of Gainesville, Georgia, a senior at the University of North Georgia (UNG), helped the UNG Debate Team in securing three first place overall honors at the Blazer Classic Debate Tournament held October 24-25 at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. Efren is majoring in management at UNG's Gainesville Campus, and also achieved the following: Semifinalist in Novice Two-Person Debate.

The teams' performance marked the best performance by any UNG team in debate club history, and represented the first time UNG had taken overall awards in all three categories of debate -- Two-Person Debate (sponsored by the National Parliamentary Debate Association); One-Person Debate (sponsored by the International Public Debate Association); and Combined Overall between the two categories.
